Lansing Firm Welcomes Back Returning Litigator

Young woman smiling wearing dark blue blazer, pearl necklace.LANSING, Mich. — Foster Swift Collins & Smith, PC welcomes back litigator, Allison M. Collins, to the firm’s Lansing office. Allison was previously with the firm from 2013-2021, starting in 2013 as a summer associate.

Allison then served the State of Texas from 2021-2025 as part of the General Litigation Division of the Texas Office of the Attorney General, rising to the rank of Deputy Division Chief. Allison defended Texas state agencies, state officials, and public universities against complex employment discrimination and constitutional claims in Texas trial courts and on appeal.

Allison has extensive experience in state and federal courts, representing clients in all phases of litigation in the following areas:

  • State and Federal Appeals: Allison has represented state agencies, state officials, municipalities, schools, companies, and individuals at all levels of state and federal appellate courts in Michigan and Texas, including the United States Supreme Court, Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.  
  • Employment Litigation: Handles employment discrimination cases brought under Title VII, TCHRA, ADEA, ADA, Rehab Act, and the Whistleblower Protection Act.
  • Environmental Litigation: Assists with water, soil, and natural resources permitting, regulatory compliance, contract negotiation, due diligence, investigation and cleanup of contaminated sites, and administrative proceedings.
  • Constitutional Claims – Has litigated federal and state constitutional claims against state agencies, state officials, and public universities, including First Amendment, Due Process, and Equal Protection claims.
  • Administrative and General Litigation: Appeals determinations by state agencies, as well as USDA, FSA, and National Resource Conservation Services (NRCS). In addition, represents clients in bid protest to United States Government Accountability Office (USGAO). Allison has also handled a wide variety of insurance defense, agricultural law, commercial litigation, and civil rights matters.
