Sidney C. Calloway, Esquire is Managing Partner of the Fort Lauderdale office of Shutts & Bowen LLP and Co-Chair of the Government Law Practice Group. A longtime Martindale-Hubbell AV®-rated lawyer, Sidney is a Leadership Florida Cornerstone XXX member and is a Florida Bar Board Certified Specialist in Civil Trial Law, a distinction accorded to less than 2% of Florida's lawyers. His practice includes complex, high-exposure commercial litigation, land use and zoning, local government law, corporate and public sector governmental affairs, governance, enterprise risk management and eminent domain law. Sidney is the Past Chair of the Urban League of Broward County and currently serves as a member of the Charter County and Regional Transportation System Surtax Appointing Authority of Broward County. He is also the Vice Chair of the Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School Board of Directors and also serves on the Board of Directors for the Port Everglades Association and the Truist Bank Advisory Board. He is a former Vice-Chair of the Florida Transportation Commission, member of the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit for Broward County, Florida.
Sidney has been recognized by Florida Super Lawyers in Civil Litigation Defense. He focuses his practice in complex, high exposure commercial litigation in state and federal court. He represents private sector clients and public agencies and has served as lead counsel in more than 140 complex jury trials involving real estate, land use and zoning, employment and civil rights law, and eminent domain. Mr. Calloway also provides legal counsel to counsels corporate and other commercial clients on governance matters, risk management, compliance and governmental affairs matters with state, regional and local government agencies.
