Overview
Shamarr Gearhart is a paralegal in the firm's Trusts and Estates group. Prior to joining Foster Swift, Shamarr worked as a legal assistant for two firms in the Lansing area where she focused on probate, estate planning, trust administration, real estate, divorce and intellectual property. She has more than 10 years of experience handling trust and estate administration matters. Shamarr’s role as a paralegal in Trusts and Estates includes client correspondence and management, time sensitive case work assembly and filings, support in preparing and filing Federal Form 706 Estate Tax Returns, preparation of complex trust and estate accountings, and assistance in marshalling trust and estate assets (including real property transfers) to complete administration matters with various backgrounds.
Shamarr is passionate about the work that she does and recognizes that she is often assisting individuals during one of the most difficult times of their lives following the loss of a beloved family member, significant other, or friend. Navigating Michigan law in a new fiduciary role to transfer trust and estate assets can be a challenging and confusing process. Shamarr aims to help clients understand the necessary steps in administering a decedent’s trust or estate and simplify the experience through timely and thorough communication. Shamarr has successfully administered hundreds of trust and estate administration matters throughout her career and welcomes the unique differences in each matter.
Shamarr is an Honor’s List and Dean’s List graduate of the ABA Approved Paralegal Associates in Business Program, during which time she focused on civil litigation, legal research and writing, family law, probate law and real estate law.
