Grand Rapids, Mich. –Foster Swift attorney Laura J. Genovich has earned the 2018 Michigan Assessors Association’s (MAA) Michigan Property Tax Achievement award. This award is given to a person or group that has made an outstanding contribution to the improvement of property tax administration and the realization of the MMA’s goals.
Laura practices municipal, property tax, and bankruptcy law in the firm’s Grand Rapids office. She handles complex property tax matters, including exemptions and special assessments. She has drafted amicus curiae briefs in the Michigan Supreme Court and Michigan Court of Appeals in high-profile property tax cases and presents educational programming to assessors on property tax issues.
The MAA is a non-profit, professional association of property tax and assessment administrators from public and private sectors; organized to improve the standards and provide a clearing house for collection and distribution of information relative to assessment practice while promoting justice and equity in the distribution of the tax burden.
