Governor Jennifer M. Granholm has unveiled Michigan Business One Stop, a new program that will provide businesses in Michigan with a single source for business services. Michigan Business One Stop website is located at www.michigan.gov/business (We have identified that the following link is no longer active, and it has been removed).
Michigan Business One Stop is a one-of-its-kind program that is intended to reform the way companies do business with the state of Michigan. The program streamlines business related operations and creates a single point of entry for Michigan businesses to obtain the government information and services they need. For example, through the web site, business owners can apply for or renew permits and licenses, file annual reports, pay unemployment taxes, and pay other state fees. All payment information is shared among state departments, and the site provides transaction information to businesses in a new, paperless environment.
In addition to the new web site, the program offers:
- a staffed consolidated call center housed in the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) with expanded weekday hours designed to answer questions and help businesses obtain information and services they need; and
- a Michigan business ombudsman who will lead a team at the MEDC to evaluate business issues and mediate solutions to help both businesses and state agencies move forward in a coordinated fashion.
