Overview
Chamberlain Hrdlicka’s Philadelphia office in Center City and West Conshohocken, which opened in 2007, specializes in domestic and international tax planning, tax controversy and tax litigation. The office has expanded its capabilities to include criminal tax defense, state and local tax planning, tax controversy and litigation, civil litigation and government investigations.
FEDERAL TAX
Our clients range from the largest domestic and foreign multinational corporations to every other conceivable form of business entity, estates, trusts, individuals and nonprofit organizations. Our tax planning lawyers represent clients in domestic and cross-border M&A and financial transactions, international structurings and restructurings, joint ventures, global tax minimization, including transfer pricing and contract manufacturing arrangements, foreign tax credit management and planning, § 199A deductions, accounting method issues, including inventory methods and capitalization issues, qualified opportunity zone and § 1031 transactions, and advising on the application of FIN 48 to domestic and international tax issues.
Our Federal tax controversy and tax litigation practice also services some of the nation’s largest public and privately-held companies, for whom we have successfully handled nationally prominent litigation matters against the IRS and Department of Justice and resolved numerous other tax controversies at the administrative audit level or with IRS appeals. As with our tax planning practice, we also help smaller companies, estates, trusts and individuals successfully navigate through the IRS administrative, appeal process and, where necessary, the litigation process.
STATE AND LOCAL TAX
Our State and Local tax practice services clients at all stages of the audit and appeal process, from the initial notice to the client that it was selected for audit by the state or local taxing authorities throughout the administrative and judicial process, including trial and appeals to the appellate courts. For all of such matters, our lawyers in Philadelphia can draw upon firm-wide resources and expertise, providing them the ability to deliver the highest caliber range of services.
LITIGATION PRACTICE
Our Litigation Group includes individuals who are accomplished trial lawyers, licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and who are called upon to litigate in many jurisdictions nationwide on behalf of public and privately-held companies as well as small businesses and individuals. Our litigators are experienced in a number of specialties, including commercial litigation, aviation and product liability, ERISA, labor and employment, hospitality, insurance and professional liability. We represent clients at all stages from early evaluation, dispute resolution, trial and appeals.
