Jesse C. Dyer is a Partner in the Tallahassee office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where he is a member of the Appellate Practice Group.
Jesse has extensive litigation experience and handles all stages of the litigation process including as lead attorney at jury and bench trials, numerous court hearings, and a large number of appeals. Practicing in both state and federal courts, Jesse has experience handling complex cases and legal issues, with varied practice areas ranging from insurance and commercial disputes to government, political, and administrative law.
Before joining Shutts, Jesse served as a law clerk for the Honorable Thomas D. Winokur of Florida’s First District Court of Appeal. He then served as Assistant General Counsel for the Florida Department of State, advising the Department on election matters and litigating election disputes in both state and federal court. In addition, Jesse served as Assistant General Counsel for the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, advising the Division of Hotels and Restaurants and prosecuting numerous administrative hearings.
Jesse currently serves as the Vice Chair on the State Retirement Commission. He was appointed by the Governor, and confirmed by the Senate, to serve as a Commissioner on the State Retirement Commission. He was later elected Vice Chair.
