Shutts & Bowen LLP is pleased to announce that Jesse C. Dyer has joined the firm’s Tallahassee office as a partner in the Appellate Practice Group.

Jesse focuses his practice on complex cases and legal issues, with an emphasis on insurance disputes representing insurers. He has varied experience ranging from defending tort cases to representing clients in civil governmental investigations. He has successfully handled numerous appeals and also has significant litigation and courtroom experience, having handled all stages of the litigation process including dispositive motion hearings, trials and post-trial motion practice.

Jesse earned his Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law and has a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from Florida State University.

Jesse served as a law clerk for the Honorable Thomas D. Winokur of Florida’s First District Court of Appeal. He then served as Assistant General Counsel for the Florida Department of State, advising the Department on election matters and litigating election disputes in both state and federal court.

In addition, Jesse served as Assistant General Counsel for the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, advising the Division of Hotels and Restaurants and prosecuting numerous administrative hearings. Jesse also served as an Assistant District Attorney in Juneau, Alaska. While in law school, he served as an instructor of property law.
