CMS Ends Home Health Agency Moratorium in Michigan
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services ("CMS") recently lifted its temporary moratorium on the Medicare enrollment of new home health agencies ("HHAs"), subunits, and branch locations in Michigan, Florida, Illinois and Texas. As of January 31, 2019, there are no active Medicare provider enrollment moratoria in any state.
The home health moratorium initially applied to certain targeted counties, and was extended to the entire state of Michigan on July 29, 2016. CMS continued to extend the moratorium for six-month increments until the most recent term expired on January 30, 2019.
Medicare contractors may now accept Medicare enrollment applications for new HHAs, subunits, and branch locations.
