Wayne Risoli is the Associate General Counsel for Chamberlain Hrdlicka. Mr. Risoli is a former Managing Shareholder.
Mr. Risoli's practice centers on business litigation matters including securities law, business torts and trademark law. One of Texas' most successful litigators, in his 20-year career he has never lost a trial. Mr. Risoli represents brokerage houses and registered investment advisors, wealthy families, and companies of all sizes in matters involving broker fraud, noncompliance, NASD claims and business torts. He also represents families and executors in probate litigation. Mr. Risoli is a former Chairman of the Litigation Section at the Firm.
Significant Cases
- Prosecuted claims against broker and brokerage house in $2.1 million NASD “suitability” and compliance arbitration.
- Defended stockbrokers and RIAs in large “suitability” arbitrations
- Successfully defended defendant Texas banks against $9 million and $6 million breach of fiduciary and forced stock buy back claims in four and three-week trials.
- Won Fifth Circuit appeal for local developer against the Resolution Trust Corporation in $25 million claim against former Bank Tying Act violation.
- Represented a NASA contractor in a seven-week trial in which the Plaintiff sought $14 million. Jury deliberated for three hours and rendered a take nothing judgment.
- Represented one of Texas’ most prominent families in a two-week trial in which the Plaintiff sought $17 million estate. The jury rendered a take nothing judgment.
- Represented a Houston privately-held oil service business sued for $7 million for fraud by supplier. Jury rendered take nothing judgment. Court ruled that plaintiff had to pay Mr. Risoli’s client’s legal fees.
- Represented large local bank sued for $3 million for unfair lending practices. Court rendered directed verdict.
- Successfully represented in a pro bono appeal an African American police officer terminated by a city in Harris County.
