Profile
Jason D. Kraus is a Shareholder in Chamberlain Hrdlicka’s Litigation practice group, where he focuses on business litigation, complex real estate litigation, transactions, and development matters.
Jason has extensive litigation experience in state and federal courts, handling numerous jury trials and disputes involving real estate, lending, foreclosure, eminent domain, commercial and business matters, and has served as lead counsel in a wide range of complex cases. He is Board Certified in Commercial Real Estate Law, Residential Real Estate Law, and Property Owners Association Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a distinction that reflects his depth of experience and recognized proficiency in the field.
He regularly represents developers, investors, lenders, landlords, and business owners in both dispute-driven and transactional matters. His practice spans the full spectrum of commercial and residential real estate litigation matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, development, leasing, foreclosures, evictions, easements, title issues and financing. He also has significant experience with condominium creation, governance and homeowners’ association representation.
Jason brings broad experience to his practice. Earlier in his career, he gained experience in large-scale real estate transactions and complex development projects, including acquisitions, joint ventures, and REIT-related matters. He has also previously served as Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California with the U.S. Department of Justice and Lieutenant with the U.S. Navy JAG Corps. In those roles, he managed all phases of federal civil litigation, including trial preparation, motion practice, depositions, and appeals, and successfully handled matters involving medical malpractice, employment discrimination, and government liability. During law school, Jason clerked in the federal courts for the Honorable Wallace W. Dixon in the Eastern District of North Carolina.
