Chamberlain Hrdlicka is pleased to announce that Jason Kraus has joined the firm as a shareholder in its Litigation practice in Houston. Kraus is triple board certified in three areas of real estate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and previously served as the principal attorney of The Kraus Law Firm, which he founded. His addition reflects Chamberlain Hrdlicka’s commitment to expanding its depth and breadth of experience across all practice areas.

“We are excited to welcome Jason to our team. Coming from his role as a solo practitioner with a growing book of business—and clients who are already seeking broader and deeper support—he is a natural fit for the firm,” said Larry Carbo, managing shareholder of Chamberlain Hrdlicka. “Jason’s experience will not only allow him to expand his own practice, but also strengthen our ability to serve existing clients across the firm. By leveraging our complementary rate structure, bench strength, and operational infrastructure, he will be well positioned to deliver even greater value to both his clients and ours.”

Kraus will focus his practice on complex business and real estate litigation, transactions, and development matters, working collaboratively with attorneys across the firm to serve clients in both dispute-driven and transactional contexts. He has extensive experience in state and federal courts, handling disputes involving real estate, lending, foreclosure, eminent domain, and business matters, and has served as lead counsel in a wide range of complex cases. His practice spans the full spectrum of commercial and residential real estate, including acquisitions, dispositions, development, foreclosures, evictions, leasing, title issues, and financing, as well as condominium creation, conversions, governance, and homeowners' association representation. Kraus regularly advises developers, investors, private lenders, multistate multifamily development owners, landlords, and small business owners.

“Chamberlain Hrdlicka’s robust litigation group and commitment to its clients is what drew me to the firm,” said Kraus. “I’m excited to bring my clients into an environment where the depth and breadth of services are truly exceptional, and to collaborate with colleagues across the firm to better support existing client relationships. I see a strong opportunity to grow my practice while also contributing to the firm’s ability to serve clients more holistically.”

Kraus began his career as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy JAG Corps, where he served as a federal tort claims attorney, and then was appointed as the Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California in the U.S. Department of Justice's Civil Division. Before entering private practice, he also oversaw Naval investigations and managed all phases of federal civil litigation as a Lieutenant in the JAG Corps. He later joined Winstead PC as an associate before founding The Kraus Law Firm.

Kraus earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas and his law degree from Campbell University School of Law and while in law school, clerked in the federal courts for the Honorable Wallace W. Dixon in the Eastern District of North Carolina.
