In a Bloomberg article published on April 19 2022, Pete Lowy, shareholder and Co-Chair of Chamberlain Hrdlicka’s SALT practice, commented on a recent decision by the Supreme Court to decline a New York-led constitutional challenge to the federal state and local tax deductions cap, imposed by the 2017 Tax Cuts & Jobs Act.

“Judicial challenge is only a part of the kill-the-cap campaign,” said Lowy. “Two other potential ways to effectively end or undermine the SALT cap are repeal at the federal level and state workaround statutes.”
