Greta E. M. Trotman is a Partner in the Miami office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where she is a member of the Financial Services Practice Group. She advises banks, broker-dealers, investment advisers and other clients on regulatory and corporate matters, offering practical solutions to complex legal issues.

Greta’s practice focuses on federal and state banking and securities laws, and she represents clients before regulators such as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Inc. (FINRA), and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. She handles a broad range of issues for financial institutions, including bank applications and annual reporting, broker-dealer registration and business expansions (including the filings of materiality consultations and continuing membership applications with FINRA), referral activity, financial privacy and cross-border concerns. Greta drafts and reviews contracts for financial institutions, covering account agreements, vendor contracts, and fintech solutions. Greta also conducts regulatory trainings and leads internal investigations.

Greta lived in Brazil for many years. Before joining Shutts & Bowen, Greta worked on capital markets and cross-border financings, focusing on the Brazilian market. She graduated from Harvard Law School, where she was the coordinating editor of the Harvard Law Review.
