On March 5, 2026, a team of Shutts & Bowen LLP’s Tallahassee attorneys served as guest speakers before students involved in the Florida State University College of Law’s First Amendment Clinic.
Tallahassee Managing Partner Ben Gibson, as well as Chair of the Appellate Practice Group Daniel Nordby, partner Amber Nunnally and attorney Maggie McCormick, provided valuable information about substantive law, Florida’s public records, practice skills, and career paths. They presented to the class as part of Shutts’ recent partnership with the Clinic to co-counsel on an amicus brief submitted to the Sixth District Court of Appeal in an important religious liberty case.
The First Amendment Clinic at Florida State University College of Law provides pro bono legal representation to individuals and organizations across the country whose rights to free speech, religious freedom, freedom of association and assembly, or freedom of the press are at risk. The clinic defends these fundamental liberties in a wide range of contexts, including public forums, educational institutions, digital platforms, government settings, and private workplaces.
