Shutts & Bowen Demonstrates Strong Profitability in 2026 Am Law 200 Rankings

Shutts & Bowen LLP, a full-service business law firm with a 116-year history, announced its results in the 2026 Am Law 200, underscoring the firm’s continued strength in key profitability metrics and its ability to outperform peers in a highly competitive environment.

The Am Law 200, published annually by Law.com, ranks the 200 largest U.S. law firms by gross revenue and provides in-depth analysis of financial performance across the industry. While the Am Law Second 100 experienced more modest growth compared to the Am Law 100 in the 2025 fiscal year, Shutts & Bowen distinguished itself through significant gains in key per-lawyer performance metrics, reflecting the firm’s client‑centric approach, sustained growth, and market reputation as the go‑to law firm in Florida.

Shutts & Bowen ranked number No. 170 overall and improved its standing in several key categories. The firm’s most significant improvement came in its Profits Per Lawyer (PPL) ranking, which rose four spots to No. 115. Notably, the firm’s Profits Per Lawyer increased to $352,000, outpacing the Am Law Second 100 average by approximately five percent. Of the firms with all offices based in Florida, Shutts is the highest ranked full-service business firm.

Additionally, the firm improved its standings in Revenue Per Lawyer (No. 148) and Profits Per Equity Partner (No. 148).

“Our results highlight the strength of our strategic approach in a year when many firms in the Second Hundred faced increased competitive pressures,” said Francis E. “Frank” Rodriguez, Chair of Shutts & Bowen’s Executive Committee.  “We are especially proud of our performance in profits per lawyer, which is a direct reflection of the exceptional work of our attorneys and our focus on delivering meaningful value to our clients.”

The firm also reported strong performance in Revenue Per Lawyer ($821,000) and Profits Per Equity Partner (in excess of $1.1 million), both of which compare favorably against Second Hundred benchmarks. The firm attributes some of this success to ongoing investments in people and technology.

“In a constantly shifting legal market, consistency and discipline matter, and we are focused on strategic growth that positions us well not just within the Am Law Second Hundred, but across the state of Florida,” added Jack C. McElroy, Firmwide Managing Partner. “To support our continued growth and elevate client service, we also continue to make sustained investments in people and technology, from lateral partner integration and development to advanced legal tech and scalable infrastructure.”
