Margaret "Maggie" McCormick Wins at DOAH 2025 Trial Academy

Shutts & Bowen LLP Tallahassee associate Margaret “Maggie” McCormick participated in the Division of Administrative Hearings (DOAH) Trial Academy in Tallahassee, which took place the week of November 3-7, 2025.

The 2025 DOAH Trial Academy is an intense week-long course designed to simulate formal administrative hearings and teach essential litigation skills. Sponsored by the Administrative Law Section, the Academy offered lawyers practical experience through mock hearings, coaching sessions, and personalized feedback. Participants who completed the program earned 50 hours of Continuing Legal Education credit.

Maggie was nominated by her team to participate in the final hearing, where she did the opening statement and the cross-examination of a witness. Following the event, she won the award for best opening statement.

Margaret “Maggie” A. McCormick is an Associate in the Tallahassee office of Shutts & Bowen LLP, where she is a member of the Appellate Practice Group. Maggie focuses her practice on appellate litigation, civil appeals and trial support in both state and federal courts. Prior to joining Shutts, Maggie was a judicial law clerk for Justice Meredith L. Sasso of the Florida Supreme Court and Judge Rachel E. Nordby of the Florida First District Court of Appeal.
