On January 20, 2026, Cyber Defense Magazine shared an article written by Houston-based Senior Counsel Marcus Burnside discussing governance for AI adoption. As organizations increasingly add AI platforms to their daily operations, it is important to understand the risks that come with it and ways to successfully implement AI.

Burnside writes, “Establishing a default policy prohibiting training on customer content unless expressly authorized is often the best stance until other technical measures are included to protect your data. Such measures can include tenant isolation, separate parameter storage and portable deletion covering weights, adapters and embeddings.”

He continues with actions for security professionals to take, noting, “After the agreement is in place, the implementation and ongoing operation of AI products should be reviewed more frequently than other legal documents, at a rate of either quarterly or biannually for compliance and security review. In addition, the level of review should be more in-depth due to the rapid changes in the capabilities and security of AI products.”
