Ken Trujillo and Jennifer Karpchuk named to 2021 Professional Excellence Awards by American Lawyer Media’s The Legal Intelligencer
Chamberlain Hrdlicka is pleased to announce that Philadelphia-based Shareholder Kenneth I. Trujillo and Shareholder and S.A.L.T Practice Co-Chair Jennifer W. Karpchuk were named to the 2021 Professional Excellence Awards by American Lawyer Media’s The Legal Intelligencer. Trujillo was named as a Lifetime Achievement honoree, recognizing those who have “left an imprint on the legal history of the state during their career.” Karpchuk was named as a Lawyer on the Fast Track honoree, a designation that “celebrates the next generation of legal leaders." Trujillo represents U.S. and foreign companies, as well as governments, executives, lawyers and other individuals in contract disputes, securities, antitrust, education and other regulatory issues. His practice involves complex civil litigation and class actions, and he counsels clients on governance, regulatory matters, internal investigations and government relations. Trujillo has also represented numerous public officials and governments, including city council members, mayors, governors, states, cities and Native American tribes in civil and criminal matters. He has extensive jury trial experience having tried to verdict civil and criminal cases ranging from personal injury to civil rights to complex class actions. Trujillo earned his undergraduate degree from Evangel University and his law degree from University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Karpchuk’s practice focuses on all aspects of state and local tax controversy and planning. She is a nationally sought-after speaker and writer on topics related to state and local tax. Karpchuk is a regular contributor to the Legal Intelligencer with a column that aims to help young partners and those aspiring to be shareholders to thrive in both the practice and business of law– addressing tough topics from work/life balance to building a practice to office politics. She also co-authors the Pennsylvania Tax Handbook and the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Bar Association’s Property Tax Deskbook. Karpchuk founded a professional networking and affinity group called Philly Women in SALT, which helps women connect with other women within the SALT community, get equitable positions in the industry and advance their careers. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware and her law degree from Temple University Beasley School of Law.
