Larry Campagna Named “Texas Tax Legend” by the State Bar of Texas
Houston, Texas – (June 24, 2019) – Larry Campagna, shareholder in the Houston office of Chamberlain Hrdlicka, was recently named a “Texas Tax Legend” by the State Bar of Texas at its annual meeting in Austin. Texas Tax Legends is one of the highest honors for the Tax Law Section. Campagna was the only tax attorney chosen this year.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by the State Bar of Texas among this elite group of tax attorneys, and to have my interview included as part of the Texas Tax Legends archive,” Campagna said.
Campagna is only the 26th tax attorney to be named a Texas Tax Legend by the State Bar of Texas, Tax Section. Those recognized are interviewed and recorded on video, presenting insightful conversations about their backgrounds, interesting stories, and thoughts on the changes in and the future of the tax profession, showcasing lives well lived and tax law careers outstandingly performed, available to view on-demand.
As a shareholder at Chamberlain Hrdlicka, Campagna has established a reputation as an authoritative litigator in matters of business litigation and white collar criminal defense, as well as federal, state and local tax controversies. Over the past 40 years, he has resolved thousands of civil and criminal matters, many of which involved sophisticated and complex legal issues that established precedent in courts at the federal, state and local levels.
Campagna was unanimously inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel in 1995, and has been recognized for years among the best tax attorneys in the country, including Chambers USA (2009-2019), Best Lawyers in America (2010-2019), Legal 500 U.S., America’s Top 100 Criminal Defense Attorneys, and appearing annually on the “Texas Super Lawyer” list.
Campagna earned both his bachelor and legal degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. Committed to the profession, he is a very active member of the American Bar Association, Section of Taxation, where he currently serves as Vice Chair for Administration. He previously chaired the Committee on Civil & Criminal Tax Penalties, the Committee on Employment Taxes, a Task Force on Offshore Credit Card Cases, a Subcommittee on IRS Investigations & Procedures, and served on numerous other committees of the Section.
