Texas-based attorneys with Chamberlain Hrdlicka have been named to the 2022 Texas Rising Stars by Super Lawyers Magazine, including Stuart Clements, Reagan “Tres” Gibbs, III, Jarrod B. Clements’ practice focuses on tax and estate administration & planning. He advises clients in federal, state, and international tax planning and controversy matters as well as structuring and implementing taxable and non-taxable transactions and reorganizations. He also handles design and drafting of wills, trusts, and business succession planning and administration for high net-worth individuals and fiduciaries. He is Board Certified in Tax Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Clements graduated with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Houston, earned his law degree, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law, and received a master of laws degree in taxation from the New York University School of Law. He was named to 2022 Best Lawyers in America "Ones to Watch."
Gibbs focuses his practice on business and fiduciary litigation, with an emphasis on bankruptcy-related matters. His commercial litigation experience includes complex business and fiduciary matters in state, probate, and federal court, as well as trade secret misappropriation, corporate governance, and construction litigation. He also has significant experience representing major parties in complex commercial bankruptcy proceedings, with an emphasis on adversary proceedings and other contested matters. His experience spans several industries, including energy, financial services, consumer, construction, and insurance litigation, among others. Tres has also worked on several successful appeals. Tres graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Distribution and received his law degree, cum laude, from Texas Tech School of Law. He’s been recognized as Top Lawyer by Houstonia Magazine between 2018 - 2021 and been named to “Ones to Watch” by Best Lawyers in America in 2021 and 2022.
Martin has more than a decade of national litigation experience with a focus on restructuring and bankruptcy. He has practiced in both federal and state courts across the country, including time at both the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts, representing a variety of clients, including bankruptcy trustees, creditors, and corporate and high net-worth debtors, helping them through their bankruptcy and beyond. He has a wealth of experience in restructuring matters affecting energy companies and has represented creditors in some of the largest oil and gas bankruptcies filed in Texas. He is also a Subchapter V Trustee appointed by the Department of Justice under the Small Business Reorganization Act of 2019, supervising eligible, financially distressed businesses navigating the streamlined and expedited debt restructuring process. Martin received his bachelor’s degree from UCLA and his J. D. from The University of Miami School of Law. He’s been named to Texas Rising Stars for four consecutive years since 2019.
Overstreet assists businesses, individuals, and families with business transactions, M&A, and tax planning. He works with owners, executives, tax directors, outside accountants, CPAs, and other advisors to design and tailor efficient solutions to corporate and tax problems. He regularly assists family-owned or closely-held businesses with entity formation, reorganization, internal restructuring, business succession planning, mergers and acquisitions, conversions, and recapitalizations. Overstreet has graduated, cum laude, with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Texas A&M University and is a Certified Public Accountant. He has received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. He’s been named to 2022 Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch.
Shields is a litigation attorney who maintains a diverse litigation practice, representing clients in probate and fiduciary litigation, labor and employment litigation, complex commercial litigation and arbitration. She has successfully represented both plaintiffs and defendants in federal and state courts in a variety of cases including will contests, trust disputes, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, FLSA, Title VII, ADA/ADEA, contractual disputes, and construction disputes. Shields graduated magna cum laude from Washington and Lee University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and psychology. Shields then graduated with honors from the University of Texas School of Law. She was named to 2021 and 2022 Best Lawyers in America "Ones to Watch" and was among Texas Rising Stars in 2021 as well.
Unzeitig focuses on a wide range of federal tax controversy and litigation matters at all stages before the Internal Revenue Service and federal courts. He has successfully represented clients in significant cases involving worker classification issues, method of accounting issues, foreign tax credits, and general collection matters. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of the Incarnate Word, teaching Tax Research to graduate accounting students. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is Board Certified in Tax Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Unzeitig received a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in accounting from Trinity University, earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from St. Mary’s University School of Law, and received a master of laws degree in taxation, with distinction, from Georgetown University Law Center. He has been named to 2022 Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch and San Antonio’s Best Lawyers - Tax Litigation by Scene in S.A.
