Article by Law.com on Chamberlain Chief Operating Officer John Meredith
In a Law.com article published on November 23, 2021, Chief Operating Officer John Meredith’s journey to becoming a leader at the firm and within the legal industry was profiled. Meredith has served as the COO of Chamberlain Hrdlicka since 2017.
Meredith shared that one of the best pieces of advice he received is: “You become like the people that you surround yourself with, so identify and connect with successful role models to learn from continually.” He further explained that he has seen leaders’ decisions derailed when there are not enough diverse perspectives in their decision-making or information gathering, which is shown when something seemingly unforeseen happens.
“If I could advise my younger self, I would invest even more time connecting with role models and focus on a more limited number of high-value projects instead of spreading time among multiple projects,” said Meredith. “With hindsight as a guide, I would focus on what matters most—faith, family, and friends."
These insights were also quoted in a separate Law.com article for the Morning Minute, “Some Lawyers Would Prefer Not to Burn Out: Morning Minute,” which was published on November 30.
