On April 18, 2025, The New York Times published an article discussing the government’s probe into some organization’s tax-exempt statuses. Former IRS Commissioner and Shareholder Chuck Rettig weighed in on the matter stating the IRS will not take action to revoke an organization's tax-exempt status without a proper examination and noted that there are many ways to resolve issues without removing that status.

“The I.R.S. does not and should not take action regarding the possibility of impacting the tax-exempt status of any organization without conducting an appropriate examination,” said Rettig. “There are many opportunities for resolution that would not result in the removal of the tax-exempt status of an organization.”
