Recognition

Shutts & Bowen LLP is pleased to announce that Miami partner, Victoria Méndez, was recently appointed as Chair of the City, County and Local Government Law Section of The Florida Bar for the 2025–2026 Bar year.

“It is truly an honor to give back to the legal community through Bar service and to support the dedicated attorneys who serve Florida’s local governments,” said Victoria. “The goal for this year is to be more supportive to our members than ever before. My hope is that the CCLGL Section will provide additional resources, more membership communication and experiences, and constant educational opportunities. Since government sector attorneys are usually beholden to lean budgets and technology that is often a year behind the private sector, the goal is to narrow that gap for our members.”

She added, “I want to assist our Section with the latest information on current trends, make technology and tools more accessible, and increase the level of camaraderie for the benefit of all. We do important work for our communities, and our Section should be a strong source of support for every lawyer navigating the unique challenges of local government practice.”

The Florida Bar’s City, County and Local Government Law (CCLGL) Section is dedicated to connecting public and private local government practitioners in fellowship, continuing legal education, career opportunities, mental and physical health awareness, and inclusion initiatives.
