The Shutts & Bowen LLP Tallahassee office recently hosted a management and leadership training presentation entitled “Building a Championship Team” for the Florida Statewide Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) Office on January 8 and 9, 2026. 

During the presentation, Tallahassee Office Managing Partner Ben Gibson and partner Dan Nordby spoke on the fundamentals of leadership, coaching skills, mentoring, performance management, conflict resolution, and people development. Partners Thomasina Moore and Alyssa Cory spoke on integration of the Florida Statewide GAL Office’s litigation plan, and introduced the mock file materials for attorneys to utilize as they implement the leadership and management skills. These skills will support the upcoming attorney training series, “Stepping up to the Plate,” which will be hosted by Shutts over four sessions in the Spring designed to sharpen the litigation skills of the Office’s attorneys statewide.

The management and leadership attorneys also heard from Florida Statewide GAL Office Executive Director Dennis Moore and Director of Legal Services Alicia Guerra on the Office’s continued vision to provide high-quality legal representation to every child under the jurisdiction of Florida’s dependency courts.
