Shutts & Bowen LLP was proud to be among the sponsors of the YMCA of South Florida’s 22nd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Inspirational Breakfast, held in Broward County. The annual event honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and celebrates local changemakers who embody his enduring vision of service, leadership, and community impact. Representing the firm at the breakfast were Fort Lauderdale office partners Brendan Barry and Edwin Stacker, along with associate Sophie Hecker.
The YMCA’s MLK Jr. Inspirational Breakfast is driven by the theme “Stand for Something!” and offers moments of reflection and inspiration, while empowering attendees to continue Dr. King’s vision through meaningful action. All proceeds from the event support the YMCA’s “I Have a Dream” Youth Scholarship Fund, which helps future changemakers achieve their dreams and aspirations. From preschool through college, the YMCA is committed to ensuring all youth have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Shutts & Bowen has a longstanding relationship with the YMCA of South Florida spanning more than a century, dating back to 1916, when the first board meeting of the YMCA of South Florida was held in Shutts & Bowen’s office. The firm’s founder, Frank Shutts, served on the YMCA’s first fundraising committee and was the organization’s treasurer.
