Nicholas Meros Speaks at Florida Chamber Foundation’s 39th Annual Environmental Permitting Conference

Nicholas Meros, a partner in Shutts & Bowen LLP’s Tallahassee office, recently spoke on a panel during the Florida Chamber Foundation’s 39th Annual Environmental Permitting Summer School Conference, held July 15-18 at the JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort.

Nick spoke as a member of the “Emerging Issues in Pollution Liability and Technological Innovations” panel. This panel focused on the evolution of environmental enforcement in Florida. Nick discussed recent significant cases and future trends in pollution liability under section 376.313, Florida Statutes. Course panelists also discussed the policy in the context of the regulation of solid and hazardous waste, soils and water quality, explained the legal and technical developments affecting pollution liability, and featured impacts to both property owners and facility operators.

Founded in 1968, the Florida Chamber Foundation is a business-led, solutions development and research organization, working in partnership with state business leaders to secure Florida’s future. The Florida Environmental Network, Inc. (FENI) is part of the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to keep members and organizations informed of environmental and growth management laws and regulations. Each year FENI produces the popular ‘Summer School’ Conference to engage with engineers, attorneys, consultants, state and local government officials, developers, landowners and others with a strong interest in environmental issues in Florida. The Environmental ‘Summer School’ Conference featured over 70 courses throughout the event and offered continuing education credits to legal professionals, engineers and licensed environmental professionals.
