Travis Kaya Named President-Elect of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Los Angeles County
Richards, Watson & Gershon is proud to announce that Travis Kaya, Senior Attorney in the firm’s Public Law Department in Los Angeles, has been elected President of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Los Angeles County (APABA).
In his role at RWG, Travis represents local governments and public agencies in a wide variety of transactional matters, drawing on deep experience in municipal and public agency law. Travis specializes in land use, environmental and real estate matters, and is currently appointed Assistant City Attorney for the City of Beverly Hills, and Planning Commission Counsel for the City of Agoura Hills.
Prior to joining RWG, he practiced commercial real estate law at Venable LLP and complex affordable housing financing at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP. He earned his B.A. in philosophy, politics, and economics from Pomona College, a Master of International Studies from the University of Sydney, and his J.D. from Loyola Law School.
During law school, Travis served as President of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, was a judicial extern for two federal judges in the Central District of California, and was a Senior Editor of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review. He is also a founding member of the Loyola Law School Asian Pacific Alumni Chapter and actively serves in community leadership roles in the City of Monterey Park and the U.S. Japan Council, among others.
APABA is a member organization of attorneys, judges, legal professionals, and law students throughout Los Angeles County dedicated to advancing professional development, fostering mentorship, and serving as a unified voice on issues of concern to the Asian Pacific American legal community. Through programming, advocacy, and service, APABA supports underserved communities and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion within the legal profession.
As President, Travis will work closely with the APABA Board of Governors and membership to support the organization’s mission and initiatives. This leadership role reflects Travis’s commitment to community engagement, professional excellence, and expanding opportunities for diverse legal professionals.
