Legal 500 Ranks HSG a Leading Firm for Commercial and Financial Services Litigation in 2025 Guide

New York—Holwell Shuster & Goldberg LLP has been recognized by Legal 500 in its 2025 guide as a leading law firm nationally for General Commercial Disputes. And for the seventh consecutive year, the firm has also been ranked as a leading firm nationally for Dispute Resolution: Financial Services Litigation.

In addition, 13 HSG lawyers were recognized for their high-stakes wins on behalf of clients throughout the year. These wins include, among others:

  • A $101 million jury verdict against Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, in a lawsuit alleging that Walmart wrongfully canceled a contract to purchase more than $500 million in personal protective equipment. The judgment was later increased to $125 million in post-trial proceedings.
  • A unanimous victory at the U.S. Supreme Court for petitioner Gary Waetzig in a case against Halliburton concerning the authority of a federal district court to reopen proceedings that were voluntarily dismissed.
  • A complete dismissal for a Fortune 500 technology company of a putative class action under the VPPA.
  • A series of wins for Chubb in opioid crisis litigations, including key victories against Walgreens and Publix that built on prior summary judgment victories against policyholders such as CVS, Rite Aid, Zogenix, and McKesson.
  • A significant jury verdict in a trade secrets case concerning the development of electric and hybrid-electric aircrafts. The jury awarded Zunum damages of $81.3 million for trade secret misappropriation, $67.08 million for breach of contract, and another $11.56 million for tortious interference. Post-verdict proceedings are ongoing.
